Gold & Purple Smokey Eye Tutorial

So I was playing around with my eyeshadows as I’ve been wanting to create a kind of gold/purple look as they are two colours I don’t use enough of. A lot of the products used to create this look were really good bargains, such as the body collection highlight and the technic blusher duo which were both under £3.50, and also the MUA Eye Dust which is part of a whole range in Superdrug, where every item in the collection is only £1.
The other awesome products were in a set I received as a Christmas gift about a year ago, which was the Front Cover Looks eyeshadow/highlight set of loose eyeshadow powders, not sure where it was from or if they are still available anywhere but it’s a gorgeous set. I used the pale gold and lilac colours out of this set for inspiration then added more colours as I went along. I’ll add a full list of products I used and where I got them at the end of this post :)

So to start off I mixed in some of the Body Collection Classic Gold Highlights Foundation with the foundation I was using, and applied it all over my face to add a bit of shimmer to my skin. I then applied Urban Decay’s Primer Potion to the whole of my upper lid and down along the bottom lid too. I then used a fluffy blending brush to sweep the light gold Front Cover shimmer powder called Dessert Dust all over my lid right upto the eyebrow and along the lower eyelid.

I then took the same brush and applied a light dusting of the lilac shade which was called Passion Flower across the top lid from just before the inner corner of the eye leaving that area shimmery gold, and swept it along the lid and crease and winged it out into a rounded shape just where my eyebrow ends, blending it into the gold shadow. I also took a little bit of this shadow along the outer corner of the lower eyelid about two thirds of the way along and again blended it into the gold shade.

Then taking a flat rounded eyeshadow brush I dabbed a little of the Rimmel Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in Intense onto the outer corner of my eye and blended it into my crease stopping about a third of the way in.

I then took the fluffy brush again and applied some of the MUA Eye Dust in shade 6 in the same area as the Rimmel shadow and blended it outwards along the shape made by the Passion Flower shimmer dust, and then back along just above the crease stopping before the inner corner to keep the golden colour concentrated to that area around the tearduct. I then swept a little along the lower eyelid again on top of the Rimmel shadow.

I then used a light dusting of the gold shimmer to blend out any harsh lines, and lined both the upper and lower lids with Avon’s Glimmerstick in Majestic Plum in a thin concentrated line, stopping three quarters of the way along the bottom lid and blending it out a little on both lids with a thin eyeshadow brush so there weren’t any harsh lines, and applied it along my waterline aswell.

Then i lined my waterline with 17’s Perfect Definition Eyeliner in Soft Black, and finished with a few coats of Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara in Black.

For the cheeks I used the gold shimmery blush from the Technic Blusher Duo (not sure what the shade is as it doesn’t say on the packaging) and dusted it lightly over the apples of my cheeks and all along the cheekbone , placing a tiny amount around the temple area. Then to finish off I applied a coat of Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in shade 130 Take a Chance, which is a gorgeous light pink colour with lots of tiny gold shimmer particles, and then used a generous coating of Astor Shine Deluxe lipstick in shade 019 Berry on top, creating a gorgeous purple pink colour with a gold sheen which i fell in love with <3 haha. And thats it, all done. :)

I was really happy with the way this look turned out, I’ll definitely have to do a video tutorial when i get a camcorder, as it was really pretty and was soft enough to wear in the daytime but with enough edge for nightime wear too :)
