L'Oreal Everstrong Hydrate Shampoo, Conditioner & Overnight Treatment Sample Review

I got these products as a free sample in the August issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, so i decided to try it out and write a review for anyone that’s interested :) First thing I noticed about the shampoo was the smell, it kinda reminded me of an aftershave my boyfriend wears and smelt very herby. I know that might sound a little strange, and it wasn’t until after I’d used it that I read the packaging that I realised it contains Rosemary and Juniper, which explains the herby smell! Haha. The packaging says that it is sulphate-free and is made from natural botanicals, and is 100% vegan, so good news for all hair extension lovers out there as it wont damage the hair the extensions are made from, whether it be synthetic or real hair :)) All of the products use a bio-ceramide complex which means that its meant to strengthen hair after just one wash. It also says on the packaging that ‘Everstrong shampoos create a rich lather, and natural aromatic properties invigorate the senses’. Now I’m not sure if it was just that there wasn’t a lot of product in the sample or not (my hairs quite long so i have to use quite a lot of shampoo at times), But it didn’t seem to lather up very well when I applied it to my hair. It also left my hair feeling a little dry before I applied the conditioner which was a bit of a let down, maybe I’m in need of a hair cut (or an excuse to have one, hehe). So overall I wasn’t so keen on the shampoo (pictured below).

As for the conditioner, I was more impressed with this one, not only because it gave my hair a bit of moisture back after the shampoo left it a little dry, but also because I liked the smell of this one better. The conditioner still contains Rosemary but instead of the Juniper, it uses Mint instead so it smells a lot fresher, and there seemed to be a bit more product in this half of the packaging. It left my hair feeling nice and soft and minty smelling, which gave me a bit of a boost and made me feel a bit more awake as I’d only just woken up and was still half asleep at the time, Haha :P

I always let my hair dry naturally, and usually it is a little frizzy unless i use serum or a really good conditioner, so I was happy that the conditioner seemed to calm the frizz down, and my hair felt soft to the touch and looking a little shinier than normal. The last thing I noticed about these products, was that when I came to wash my hair again, it felt really thick when it was wet, which was a little strange as I’ve never used a shampoo or conditioner that has made my hair feel like that before, but i liked it as it made my hair feel healthier if that makes sense?

The last product in this sample was the Overnight Repair Treatment, right off the bat the first thing that caught my eye on the back of the packaging was that it says ‘absorbs quickly to strengthen hair without leaving residue on the pillow’. This for me was awesome because I hate it when you put a treatment on your hair that you didn’t think would leave any marks on your pillow, to wake up and find it smudged all over, ewwwww! lol. So I was happy to wake up and find no marks on the pillow, yayyy! This one kinda reminds me of the smell of honey, and again I think it has Rosemary in it, I can’t quite put my finger on it but there is defiantly another background smell apart from the honey. So I applied all the product in the packet which I presume is 1-2 pumps out of the full size product, which is how much it tells you to use, about 20 minutes before I went to bed. When I woke up in the morning my hair definitely felt a lot softer and it tamed the frizz i usually get on my hair quite a bit, and the best thing was it didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy or greasy at all which some products do :)

So overall I think I would definitely try the full size products of these samples to see if they improve the condition of my hair after prolonged usage, so I’ll have to have a shop around and see if I can find them anywhere and see what happens :)
